Solutions

For the past few weeks, Thomas and Stella have been working on a new trick. He asks me, "Do you have a problem? We can put our heads together and solve it!" and then they do exactly that. Well, the first part at least. As you can see, he has not learned his lesson from last week's ear bite. ("But that was Max!" Stella would NEVER bite me!") Stay tuned for a Stella ear bite at some point in the future!

When I first got my AG, I knew nothing about birds, practically. So take this story as an important lesson learned...

I was driving (yes, driving), with Titus on my shoulder, and he leaned over and bit the cartilage on the upper side of my ear, then ground his beak up and down on it. I nearly fainted while driving!

Needless to say, Titus was banned from shoulders after that. Ever now and then I let him up there now, and he's never been bad again, but I'm always prepared for it!

Homeless Parrot -- believe me, all of the larger parrots (I make an exception for my budgie) are banned from my shoulders. I think they should be banned from Thomas's shoulders as well, but he doesn't listen. The birds don't even try to go on mine as they know the rules.

I once saw a macaw take at least 1/2 inch of cartilage out of the top of a man's ear. The bird loved the man, but gave him a warning nip when someone the bird didn't like walked by. That was enough of a visual for me. Even though Thomas saw this, he still takes chances with Stella.

Michelle -- thanks :)
